Reigning champions Uzbekistan sealed their place in the knockout stage of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 in style after a 3-1 win against Indonesia in Group C on Sunday.

The result meant that Uzbekistan are assured of a top two finish and also confirmed Islamic Republic of Iran’s place in the last 16, with the two to meet on Wednesday to decide the group winners.

The game needed a spark after a cagey start and it came from Muhammadali Urinboev in the 21st minute as the Uzbekistan captain scored with a header for the second game running, guiding a Saidkhon Khamidov cross beyond Ikram Algiffari.

Indonesia provided a swift response, equalising two minutes later when Marselinus Ola slid the ball to Jens Raven in the box and the Dordrecht forward expertly picked out the bottom corner.

Marselinus then had a shot that flew over the bar while Ravshan Khayrullaev’s grounder had Ikram diving to his right as teams went into the break on level terms.
