Australia, Japan, Korea DPR, Korea Republic will feature at the global showpiece in Colombia from August-September this year.

With the group stage at the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup having come to a conclusion, the continent’s four representatives at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024™ have been confirmed.

Japan, winners in 2018, and two-time champions Korea DPR have qualified for a record eighth U-20 Women’s World Cup appearance, while it will be the seventh time at the global finals for Korea Republic and the fifth for Australia.

Australia were the only nation to win all three of their group matches at the continental championships in Uzbekistan, with a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei on Saturday confirming their spot at the top of Group A.

In the same group, Korea Republic recovered from an opening defeat against the Young Matildas to hammer Uzbekistan 13-0 and book their ticket to the U-20 Women’s World Cup in emphatic fashion.

In Group B, Korea DPR ended on top of the standings after they drew their opener 1-1 with China PR, saw off Vietnam 6-0 and then won a decisive clash with Japan 1-0 in the final fixture.

That saw the Young Nadeshiko finish second, despite having scored 12 goals in their three outings and confirm their place at the global showpiece.

A remarkable 57 goals were scored across the 12 group stage matches, with Korea Republic’s Jeon Yugyeong leading the way with four and Japan’s emerging star Manaka Matsukubo one of a group of players a goal back on three.

The semi-finals at the U-20 Women’s Asian Cup will see Australia face Japan and Korea DPR and Korea Republic square off, with the winners meeting in the final in Tashkent this Saturday.
