The win put Tainan City on nine points, with the two sides to meet again on Thursday. Taichung Futuro are leading the group on 12 points, with the Chinese Taipei side only needing a point from their final tie against FC Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia in their final game. Tainan City were in the driver’s seat from the get-go, with Yao Ko-chi threatening in the 10th minute but his shot from inside the box was blocked.
Must CPK, however, conceded a minute later when goalkeeper Batista did well to save Fong Shao-chi’s initial effort but the Brazilian’s attempt for a quick goal kick went wrong when his shot was deflected by Jean Moser into the back of the net.
Tainan City doubled their tally in the 19th minute through a fine effort from Yu Chia-huang, who found space in the centre before drilling a long-range effort past a diving Batista.Must CPK then took advantage of a lapse in concentration by Tainan City in the 23rd minute when Bruno Araujo evaded his marker on the left flank before slipping a well-timed through ball for Niki Torrao to strike home from inside the box.
The Macau side almost levelled the score twice, first in the 34th minute through Araujo’s effort from just outside the box before Torrao was denied his second goal four minutes later following Lam Ka Seng’s set-up
Must CPK started the second half with intensity, Araujo sending his effort from distance over the bar in the 50th minute but the Macau side’s patience finally paid off three minutes later with Torrao scoring with a header courtesy of Ronald Carissimo’s cross from the right.Tainan City, however, wrestled the game back from Must CPK when they retook the lead in spectacular fashion in the 75th minute, with Ange Kouame muscling his way into the box from a swift counter-attacking move before squaring it for Lin Wei-Chieh to tap home from close range.
Kouame then put the game out of Must CPK’s reach when he beat two defenders before striking the ball home from just above the box past a diving Batista.
