Jordan head coach Jamal Sellami singled out captain Ehsan Haddad for his strong performance in their AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26 Group B victory over Palestine on Tuesday.

With the mercurial Mousa Al Tamari sidelined, Haddad played a pivotal role in the 3-1 win at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium with Yazan Al Naimat scoring twice and Noor Al Rawabdeh also getting on the scoresheet.

“I’m extremely proud of the team. They showed a lot of dedication which led to the win,” said Sellami.
“We started well and got the early goal but then we conceded just before half-time. Thankfully we managed to score twice in the second half.”

“We were missing one of our main forwards in Mousa but other players showed up for us. Among the players who stepped up was our captain Ehsan Haddad, who played very well both offensively and defensively.
“The most important thing is that we got the three points that we wanted.”

Despite suffering defeat, Palestine head coach Makram Daboub was optimistic his side will deliver a better performance in their next match.

“We knew it would be a very difficult match, especially after the big effort against Korea Republic,” said Daboub.

“We weren’t active enough and missed a lot of chances. Jordan were the better team with players who have good skills.

“For the next match (against Iraq), I hope that my players will be better because most of them have signed with teams and will be better prepared.”
