Brunei Darussalam defeated Macau 3-0 in the first leg of their AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™ playoff tie at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Thursday.

The win ensures Brunei head into the return leg at the Macau Olympic Stadium on Tuesday well placed to advance to the final round of the qualifiers.

Hakeme Yazid Said’s 32-minute strike separated the sides going into the break before Brunei extended their lead with goals from Nazry Azaman (56th) and Abdul Hariz (61st).

The winners of the two-leg tie will advance to the third round of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 qualifiers, joining 23 other teams.

At stake in the third round will be six spots in the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™, with the 18 other berths already filled by the sides competing in the AFC Asian Qualifiers™ – Road to 26.

The draw for the third round of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 will be conducted in December with the matches to commence in March with only the six group winners to advance to the Finals.
