Rodrigo was crowned the Best Men’s Player for the first time at the Beach Soccer Stars 2023 Gala in Dubai on Monday evening. Fellow Brazilian Adriele made it back-to-back Best Women’s Player awards, while she also became the first female to win the Best Goal prize. “It means so much,” said Rodrigo. “I’m really pleased with this triumph. I thank God, who gave me strength and health to fight for my target every day. I thank my family – my mum, my dad, my wife, my son. All my companions – coaches, players, directors, physiotherapists. Everybody who was part of my trajectory in 2023. “I’m really happy, but what makes me even happier is to know that Rodrigo, a kid from the favela in Rio de Janeiro, from a humble family but one with a lot of values, managed to win such an important award. And that I’m a positive example for where I came from, from the reality I had. This is really important to me.” As well as Rodrigo, several other players set to participate in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup UAE 2024 Dubai™ collected esteemed prizes. Italy’s Leandro Casapieri won the Best Men’s Goalkeeper and Spain’s Cristian Mendez the Best Coach, while the Best Five was comprised of Casapieri, Japan’s Ozu Moreira, Bruno Xavier of Brazil, Portugal’s Be Martins and Rodrigo.
