Australian defender Harry Souttar will spend the 2024/25 season with English Championship side Sheffield United after his loan move from Leicester City was confirmed on Monday.

The 25-year-old will provide much needed cover for the Blades as they look to regain their Premier League spot following relegation in the 2023/24 season with manager Chris Wilder singing Souttar’s praises.

“Getting someone of Harry’s calibre and experience is a huge plus, and he’ll add some steel to our defensive unit,” said Wilder in a club statement.

“His height and power are exactly what we’ve been looking for since we lost a couple of experienced heads, but with the loan market we have had to bide our time a little in order to get him here.

“Harry’s still only 25 but he’s been around a long time. He can handle the highest of levels as shown with his appearances for Australia, and again he’s someone who knows this division and what is needed to be successful in it.”

Over in the AFC Women’s Champions League™ ۲۰۲۴/۲۵, two sides that will compete in the Preliminary Round and are drawn together in Group A have strengthened their respective squads with new signings.
Kathellen Sousa joins Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr from Real Madrid, bringing with her a wealth of experience not only at club level but also with the Brazilian national team.
Though not selected for Paris 2024, Kathellen was part of the squad that competed in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and the defender has made 44 appearances for Real Madrid.
As for the UAE’s Abu Dhabi Country Club, they have secured the signing of Nepal international Rekha Poudel as they look to progress through to the group stage with Myawady FC (MYA) and Young Elephants FC (LAO) making up the four teams in Group A which Al Nassr will host.
