Manchester City head to the FIFA Club World Cup with six of their star players in contention for FIFA’s top individual awards.
Manchester City swept all before them last season and approach December’s FIFA Club World Cup™ as heavy favourites to become just the third team to complete a sextuple of domestic, European and global titles.
The recent unveiling of nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards™ provided a powerful reminder of why that status is assured, with Pep Guardiola’s players dominating the star-studded shortlists.
The Best FIFA Men’s Player list has a particularly prominent sky-blue streak, with five of the 12 contenders playing for City and a sixth, Ilkay Gundogan, nominated due to his achievements for the club. Ederson, for his part, is in contention for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award, while Guardiola himself is once again shortlisted in The Best FIFA Men’s Coach category.
With fans in Saudi Arabia set to see these City stars shine in just a couple of months’ time, join us on a journey from Belgium to Brazil, through Argentina, Norway, Spain and Portugal, as we profile the club’s award-nominated sextet.
