Voting is now open for the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award, with 11 jaw-dropping goals in contention for the prize.

The accolade is named after legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskás, who was famed for his glorious individual strikes. It celebrates the most spectacular goals of the qualifying period, which was from 21 August 2023 to 10 August 2024.

Al Haydos could not have caught this volley any sweeter. Akram Afif was the creator, floating a corner to the edge of the box where the Qatar striker was waiting to blast an unstoppable effort into the top corner. The goal clinched a 1-0 victory for Qatar in the AFC Asian Cup group stage.

The goal was one of three Al Haydos scored during Qatar’s triumphant Asian Cup campaign. They beat Jordan 3-1 in the final to win the title for the second time.

Benzia collected a pass from Algeria team-mate Monsef Bakrar with his back to goal, flicked the ball up with his right boot then improvised sensationally to fire home with a left-footed bicycle kick. The strike sent the fans in Baraki wild – and earned his team a 3-3 draw in this FIFA Series encounter.
